A Deep Dive into Capstone's Spring 2024 StudyGlobal Education Fairs
Let's take a closer look at what Capstone’s Spring 2024 StudyGlobal Education Fairs had to offer.
There has recently been a significant surge in the number of Vietnamese students pursuing their secondary and postsecondary education overseas. According to Dr. Mark Ashwill, Capstone’s managing director and co-founder, there are an estimated 275,000 Vietnamese students studying abroad, over 90% of whom are in the top 10 host countries.
Education fairs have become pivotal hubs for young people with plans to study abroad. These fairs offer an ideal platform for prospective students to explore a wide range of educational opportunities and consider which schools align best with their academic and career goals.
This spring, Capstone Education organized the "Fuel Your Dreams" StudyGlobal Education Fairs, a special biannual event that brought together representatives from 30+ secondary and higher education institutions in the US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Grenada, Ireland and Australia in three cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Danang. Let's take a closer look at what these fairs had to offer.
School Outreach: Facilitating Contact with Secondary and High School Students
As part of Capstone’s StudyGlobal Education Fairs, representatives had the chance to visit local schools in each fair city to meet with interested students in mini-fairs. We carefully selected from a range of public and private schools, where many students expressed interest in studying abroad.
The mini-fairs provided an invaluable opportunity for students to learn about a range of educational institutions in different countries, including academic programs, tuition and fees, living costs, facilities, and important scholarship opportunities. Additionally, representatives identified potential students for their institutions and were able to follow up with them after the events.
Highlighting Opportunities: Updates from Capstone's StudyGlobal Education Fairs
Capstone Education holds the distinction of being the only educational consulting company in Vietnam if not the world that works exclusively with regionally accredited colleges and universities in the case of the US and officially approved and accredited institutions in other countries. This commitment to integrity ensures that students and parents will have access to institutions that have met a minimum threshold of quality.
Numerous students and parents participated in the events, interacting with representatives to seek answers to various questions about overseas study. These students were recognized for their talent, academic excellence, and dynamic engagement in extracurricular activities. Institutions offering generous scholarships and meaningful internship programs attracted considerable attention.
Conversations with Foreign Representatives: Improving Student Preparedness
Students and their parents have the opportunity to speak with foreign colleagues in English or Vietnamese through a student volunteer interpreter. In the case of US-bound students, they also have the chance to do a mock student visa interview with Dr. Ashwill in order to familiarize them more with the process and build their confidence.
Exclusive Workshop Series for Tomorrow's Scholars
To make the fairs even more beneficial, Capstone Education offered two workshops entitled Discover Your Best Fit Major and Earn What You Deserve: A World of Funding Opportunities led by Dr. Mark Ashwill.
Dr. Mark Ashwill is highly knowledgeable in the realms of international, higher, and comparative education. He has also published articles, book chapters, and a book on these subjects, and spoken at various international conferences and seminars focused on education.
With decades of experience, Dr. Ashwill guided students in self-discovery using the Japanese concept of ikigai to help students chart their career path. In another workshop, students were introduced to a variety of funding opportunities available to qualified and deserving students, including those thinking about applying to institutions represented at the fairs.
Test Your Skills with Capstone’s Mini-Games
Aside from speaking with foreign representatives and joining a workshop or two, attendees had the opportunity to participate in entertaining mini-games and win fun prizes. These games were scheduled just one hour before the event concluded, allowing families lots of time to communicate with all school representatives and wrap up their comprehensive fair experience.
